Hydrafacial vs. Diamond Glow Facial

Hydrafacial-vs-diamondglow-facial

The look of fresh, dewy, donut-glazed skin is always in. Instead of resorting to multiple at-home scrubs, exfoliators, and peels that can only do so much, take your skincare routine up a notch and opt for a professional-grade treatment like the Diamond Glow Facial. Not to be confused with the Hydrafacial—the two are quite different—this pore unclogging, dead skin removing, glow-boosting treatment is sure to become a regular in the quest for healthy skin.

The Diamond Glow Facial is a must for those who want clearer, smoother, healthier skin that boasts a more even tone. But, as good as all of that sounds, that’s not all the 30-minute treatment does—it also helps to reduce the visible appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dryness, discoloration and spots, and dull-looking skin. Sound too good to be true? It’s not. This painless facial is downtime free, making it ideal for regular skin maintenance or as part of a special event skin prep. It can be difficult to choose between the Hydrafacial or Diamond Glow Facial, so we decided to make it a little easier.

But with so many different types of facials that promise to unclog the pores and leave the skin looking fresh and glowing, how do they all stack up? We’re putting two of the most popular ones, the HydraFacial and the Diamond Glow Facial, head to head; the differences may surprise you.

The Diamond Glow is a 3-in-1 Treatment

Some specialized facials claim to exfoliate and purge the skin of whatever its pores are holding onto, but the Diamond Glow Facial, which starts with a traditional cleanse first, goes one step further than all the others. It exfoliates the skin, removes impurities from the pores via extractions, and even infuses the skin with serums customized to each patient’s needs.

The Diamond Glow Facial Uses Real Diamonds

As bougie as it sounds, there’s a reason why the Diamond Glow Facial device tip contains real crushed diamonds: they act as an effective mode of lifting away and exfoliating dead skin from the surface. The diamonds in the tip amplify that effect. Throughout the treatment, your aesthetician can use the six tips to cater to the skin’s needs at any time.

Whereas other facial treatments, like the HydraFacial, rely on chemical exfoliators to lift away dead skin cells, Diamond Glow doesn’t. Instead, the diamond-tipped wand safely yet effectively exfoliates the skin, so it’s smooth and refined.

It’s a Hydra-Dermabrasion Treatment

Another factor that sets the Diamond Glow Facial apart from other facials is that it’s considered a hydra-dermabrasion treatment, meaning it’s performed on wet skin. Treatments like microdermabrasion, which are always done on dry skin, don’t incorporate the water factor, leading to redness, irritation, and even post-treatment dryness. Plus, since the exfoliation portion of the treatment is always done ‘’wet” sans chemical exfoliation, the Diamond Glow Facial is a suitable solution for sensitive skin that’s easily irritated.

Personalized Serums are Added to the Facial

After the skin is exfoliated and extracted, it is infused with one of five SkinMedica Pro-Infusion Serums, depending on its needs—the HydraFacial does not incorporate SkinMedica serums into the protocol. Your aesthetician can choose from: Skin Brightening, Vitamin C, Pore Clarifying, HA Hyaluronic Acid, and TNS Advanced. Each serum packs a powerful punch of concentrated actives to improve the skin dramatically.

  • Skin Brightening contains the patented Lumixyl brightening peptide to improve the appearance of pigmentation
  • TNS Advanced targets wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin
  • Vitamin C delivers a deep dose of antioxidants to protect and rejuvenate the skin
  • HA Hyaluronic Acid features five forms of hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump lines and wrinkles instantly
  • Pore Clarifying addresses imperfection and promotes clearer skin making it ideal for acne-prone skin

The technique used throughout the Diamond Glow Facial is also different—and far superior—to other skin-clearing facial devices. For example, the DiamondGlow uses a four to six counts-long pulse, allowing the skin to absorb the serums appropriately. However, infusing the serums too quickly into the skin can hinder their ability and effectiveness. Aside from the absorption factor, the Diamond Glow Facial also offers a lymphatic drainage effect to the areas treated, which helps to smooth and hydrate them and make lines, wrinkles and crepey skin less apparent. Your provider can also use it around more delicate areas like the mouth and eyes.

The Results are Dramatic

As soon as the Diamond Glow Facial is complete, you’ll notice an immediate improvement in your skin. The beauty behind a Diamond Glow Facial is its ability to act as a corrective treatment. In contrast, the HydraFacial is geared towards maintenance and long-term improvement over multiple treatment sessions.

Save for some minimal pinkness to the skin (although not everyone experiences this), the skin will be noticeably more hydrated, glowy, and have a beautiful radiance. The pores will also appear smaller, and any fine lines and wrinkles will seemingly smooth out. There’s no tightness or dryness to the skin, just a soft, balanced, moisturized feeling. Plus, you can see everything—oil, dead skin, debris, and more—removed from the pores and skin during the treatment, thanks to a tiny jar that holds the contents of everything removed during the facial.
