The Pros & Cons of Penis Enlargement With Filler

Years ago, if you wanted a larger penis, you had no choice but to undergo surgery and have a penile implant inserted. Today, a few injections of hyaluronic acid filler can enhance the size of the penis shaft to give it girth. This minimally-invasive procedure works well for those with flaccid length and less-than-desired girth to make the penis larger and thicker when erect. But how do you know if this is right for you? Here, we discuss the pros and cons of penis enlargement with filler.

The Pros

  • The changes are noticeable and, for some patients, are dramatic.

What one patient can achieve may differ from the next since no two bodies are alike. How much improvement you’ll see depends on what you’re starting with, so keep that in mind. If your natural size is more significant, you’ll probably see more improvement than someone on the small side. Most patients can see an average of 20 percent improvement.

  • There’s no scarring or cutting.

With surgery, there’s the need for incisions to place an implant. And all incisions result in a scar. But since this nonsurgical approach uses injectable filler and doesn’t require any cuts or incisions, there are no resulting scars. That also means there’s no healing, either.

  • It’s quick and relatively painless.

Just like injecting dermal fillers into the face, injecting them into the penis is quick and painless. However, the injections themselves take between 15 and 30 minutes from start to finish. And if you want to make the treatment as easy as possible, topical numbing cream can be used too, to make the injections more comfortable. Plus, the results are immediately seen directly after the procedure.

  • It can improve length.

The main benefit of penile injections is to add girth or width to the penis. But increasing the girth of the penis with filler also creates length since the injectables add weight and, therefore, additional length. However, not every patient benefits from the added length, although many do as an added benefit.

The Cons

  • There’s a short recovery.

In the first few days post-injection, you’ll want to be careful of your actions, so you don’t put unnecessary strain on the penis. You can resume light activities and work out a day or two after the treatment. But more strenuous and sexual activities must be refrained for about one week. There can also be some minor swelling and bruising that lasts a few days up to one week.

  • It’s not a permanent fix.

Fillers are not permanent, but they can give long-lasting results. Over time, the hyaluronic acid breaks down, and the effects fade away slowly. However, on average, you can expect the results to last upwards of one year.

  • Your injector cannot use just any filler.

The only type of filler that should be injected into the penis is hyaluronic acid. It’s soft, compatible with the tissue, and reversible if you don’t like the result. However, it’s essential to ensure that only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler is used and no other type of injectable, including silicone.
